HEALTH HAZARDS As delivered, these materials pose no health hazard. If metal is vaporized, metal fumes as below may be released. Metal fume fever may occur.

• Zinc Oxide - OSHA PEL = 5 mg/m3(fume): 15 mg/m3(dust)
• Silver Fume - OSHA PEL = .01mg/m3

EXPOSITION OF OCCUPANTS

• Exposure to elevated concentrations of metal fumes > OSHA PEL may cause metal fume fever - chills, shakes, fever, nausea,cough, metallic taste, headache, blurred vision, vomiting, fatigue, tightness in chest, decreased pulmonary function.
• Research indicates that zinc should pass through the system within 48 hrs.
• MEDICAL CONTACT GENERALLY ADVISED BY EXPOSURE None

Section VIII - CONTROL MEASURES

PRIMARY PROTECTION As delivered, no respiratory protection is required to handle material. May need NIOSH approved respirator use if dust or fume present.

VENTILATION Adequate ventilation may be required to keep exposures to limits below OSHA PELs.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES None

EYE PROTECTIVE Gloves May be required if cutting or melting material.

INHALATION PRECAUTIONS LIQUIDATION OF EQUIPMENT Safe shoes. Fire-proof garments should be worn if molten metal is to be handled. General clean work practices (e.g., washing hands after handling material) and standard safety practices.
