# Scanners, Gesture Control, & High Precision 3D Interaction…Oh My!

June 22, 2012

Inline with the recent advances of the [ReconstructMe](http://reconstructme.net/) software package that turns your Microsoft Kinect into a 3D scanner, there are some [new developments](/content/blog/archives/1332-Lifes-Memorable-Moments-Captured-In-3D.html) that may add to, or offer options to what’s already being done. Check ’em out.

[Leap Motion](/content/blog/Leap%20Motion%20under%20%2470%20gesture%20control%20with%20high%20precision%203D%20interaction%20%20(200x%20more%20sensitive%20than%20the%20Kinect/index.html)) gesture control with high precision 3D interaction. Claims to be 200x more sensitive than Kinect & at $70 it is quite appealing. Wondering if this could be used in the same way as Kinect with ReconstructMe to create high-res scans.

[Armada](http://design.isaacblankensmith.com/Armada-3D-Scanner) Concept 3d scanner device with dual 18mp cameras, aluminum body, & Class II laser (safe on the eyes). Meant to sync with your smart phone via bluetooth.

[Matterport](http://matterport.com/) 3d scanner technology that boasts the ability to scan entire rooms & environments
