  The smoother the better — I joined Shapeways and installed blender on my computer for the express purpose of making hairtoys — combs and hairsticks.
  Metal is ALL that is suitable for that for strength purposes (especially for hairtoys for very long hair), and it must be SMOOTH.

  Is that a double plating of gold process? OR higher resolution settings on the Stainless Steel printer? 😛
  Either way it’s great news for jewelry designers – Gold should shine as Gold.

  Hi Janis do you have some samples models of what you do and how smooth you are looking for?
  @Dizingof Material is currently not available. It has been polished after the plating process.

  big difference – the right one looks like gold! critical for jewelry.

  Yes, love the difference. If I model a smooth surface, I want the printed surface to be as smooth as possible! Hope to see polish like this in finished products.

  That’s pretty amazing. When will the objects we print look like that? (i.e., when will this new method be implemented?)

  Oh man… why doesn’t the gold-plated stuff that I got look that shiny? My gold-plated items look like dull paint. I didn’t expect much for $5, but now I’m kinda jealous. Will there be a new, more expensive option for people that want shinier gold plated stuff?
